Dr Sylwia Kropacz-Sobkowiak

Dr Sylwia Kropacz-Sobkowiak is an optometrist and dispensing optician with an extensive academic and clinical background. She holds a Ph.D. from the Poznan University of Medical Sciences, an M.Sc. in Optometry from Adam Mickiewicz University, and an M.Sc. in Clinical Optometry from Salus University (Pennsylvania College of Optometry) in the United States.
She has gained broad international experience through clinical training and academic involvement across several countries. Her professional development includes advanced clinical and educational training at Salus University in the United States, clinical experience at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, United Kingdom, as well as participation in teacher exchange programs within the Erasmus framework at Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (Hogeschool Utrecht) in the Netherlands, where she strengthened her expertise in educating future optometrists and enhancing modern teaching approaches in optometric training.
Dr Kropacz-Sobkowiak is an academic lecturer in the Optometry program at Adam Mickiewicz University, teaching in the Laboratory of Vision Physics and Optometry, and a guest lecturer on contact lenses at the University of Silesia.
She has been active in professional organizations in Poland and across Europe for many years. She currently serves as President-Elect of the European Council of Optometry and Optics (ECOO) and a member of its Executive Committee. In Poland, she is the Consultant for Education of the Polish Optometric Association.
She brings extensive clinical expertise in ocular surface disorders and specialty contact lens fitting. In her private practice, she manages complex cases across all age groups, including patients with irregular corneas, ocular surface disease, and advanced visual needs. She is widely recognized as a Key Opinion Leader in contact lenses and anterior segment diagnostics, collaborating closely with industry partners and manufacturers of diagnostic technologies.
